SheetDelta is built on a simple principle: your data is yours. We go to great lengths to ensure your files stay private. For a plain-English, per-surface breakdown of how files are handled, see our Security & Privacy page.

Free Web Tool

SheetDelta's free web tool processes files entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Your Excel files are never uploaded to any server. No file data is transmitted, stored, or logged.

When you drop files onto SheetDelta.com, the comparison runs locally on your device. The files exist only in your browser's memory for the duration of the comparison and are discarded when you close the tab or start a new comparison.

Excel Add-in

The SheetDelta Excel add-in is free and, when signed out, does all of its diffing locally inside Excel. Snapshots you save are stored in Excel's local storage on your device — they are not sent to us. If you sign in with a hosted-platform seat, the add-in displays reviews and versions your team has already connected to the platform (covered below).

Desktop App

The SheetDelta desktop app runs locally on your machine. It does not transmit file contents. It contacts our license server only to verify your license key — no file data is included in this communication.

Hosted Platform

The SheetDelta hosted platform receives file data only for the workbooks you explicitly connect — by linking a SharePoint or OneDrive library, or by uploading a workbook. SharePoint access uses Microsoft Graph's least-privilege Sites.Selected model, so SheetDelta can see only the specific libraries your administrator approves, never your whole tenant. Connected versions are processed server-side to generate diffs, and are:

• Encrypted at rest using AES-256
• Encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3
• Retained according to the retention settings you control
• Never used to train models and never shared with third parties
• Deletable on request — contact us and we'll purge all your data

Teams that cannot send workbooks to any cloud can self-host the entire platform inside their own network, including air-gapped deployments.

Cookies

SheetDelta.com does not use cookies. We do not use any tracking scripts, analytics tools, or advertising pixels. There is no cookie banner because there are no cookies.

Personal Data (GDPR)

The free web tool collects no personal data whatsoever. No IP addresses are logged, no usage data is collected, and no identifiers are stored.

If you use a paid product, we store only what's necessary for the service: your email address and payment information (processed by Stripe — we never see your card number).

Third Parties

We do not share any data with third parties. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising networks, or data brokers.
