No exporting, no second window, and no waiting on a server. The engine runs in the pane on your own machine.

Risks. Checks for the mistakes that cost money: totals that do not reconcile with the figures above them, constants buried inside formulas, broken references, undocumented models. 87 of them run on your device; sign in and the hosted platform runs all 123.
Formulas. Every formula grouped by complexity, with reuse and cross-sheet reach counted, and any one of them opened up, highlighted, with a breakdown of how it is built.

Click a finding and Excel goes to the cell. Here, a total on the balance sheet that does not reconcile with the figures above it. Nothing is painted into your file, so there is no “clear highlights” button, because there is nothing to clear.

Frequently asked questions

Is the add-in really free?
Yes. Seeing what changed, the risk checks and the formula inventory all run on your device and need no account. You only pay for the hosted platform, which adds your team’s published versions, cell-anchored comments, sign-off and shared control checks.
Does it change my workbook?
No. It reads the open file and points at cells using Excel’s own selection, so there are no highlights to clear, no undo entries, and nothing to clean up. We check that in real Excel by fingerprinting the workbook (values, formulas, number formats and comments) before and after the pane runs, and comparing the two.
How do I install it?
From inside Excel, or from Microsoft AppSource. It is free and needs no account. In Excel, go to Home › Add-ins, search for SheetDelta and choose Add. Or open the listing and choose Get it now; it is published by Flamingo Research & Development, the company behind SheetDelta. If your organisation keeps the Office store switched off, a Microsoft 365 admin can deploy it to chosen people instead: tell us and we will walk them through it. The free browser tool runs the same engine with nothing installed at all.
Does my workbook data leave Excel?
Signed out, no. Everything on this page is computed in the task pane on your own device. Signed in and connected to a workbook, yes: the pane sends the open file to the hosted platform to run your team’s control checks, and again when you submit a version for review. That check stores nothing: no version and no saved copy. The file does leave Excel, though. For workbooks you can never share, the free in-browser tool sends nothing anywhere.
What about an AI assistant editing my model?
That is the case this was built for. An assistant can rewrite a formula as a hardcoded number and leave the sheet looking identical; the comparison names the cell and shows you the formula that used to be there, whether the edit came from a person or a tool.

Want it in your team’s Excel?

It is free on Microsoft AppSource, so anyone can add it themselves. For a locked-down tenant, a Microsoft 365 admin can deploy it to chosen people from the admin centre instead, and nobody installs anything. Tell us and we will walk them through it.
