Microsoft Spreadsheet Compare alternative

The compare tool you’re looking for — on Mac, the web, and any Office plan

Microsoft Spreadsheet Compare does a real job, but it’s buried in specific Windows editions and missing from most of them. SheetDelta does the same job in your browser, free, with no special license.

Why you can’t find Spreadsheet Compare

It’s not hidden in a menu — it’s a separate Windows app that only ships with certain Office editions. If your plan doesn’t include it, searching the Start menu turns up nothing, and there’s no standalone download. Here’s roughly where it lives:

  • Office Professional Plus (2016–2021)
  • Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise
  • Microsoft 365 Business Standard / Premium
  • Office Home & Business / Home & Student
  • Excel for Mac
  • Excel for the web

Microsoft’s edition lineup changes over time — check your own install. The point stands: access depends on your license, and it’s Windows-only.
